Contact InfoOffice of Admissions Sara Wilensky, JD, MPP Undergraduate Programs in Public HealthThis cutting-edge program combines analysis of current health issues with a liberal arts base. Our undergraduate programs in Public Health teach students about improving the health of communities at home and abroad through health education, promotion and communication, the use of scientific and epidemiologic methods, policy analysis, environmental tools, and management skills. Why Study Public Health at GW?We're a close group of students and faculty with a shared goal: to make a difference in our community and the world. Our community is small enough that we'll know your name and large enough to attract public health leaders to teach and inspire. GW is one of only a handful of schools that offers the full array of public health opportunities for our students; you can major or minor in Public Health, or take advantage of our five-year BS/MPH dual-degree program. Of course, all students may take Public Health classes even if you are not enrolled in one of our programs. Students must apply to our programs. Our students leave prepared for advanced study in public health, medicine, law and business, as well as for careers in government and the private and nonprofit sectors.

Riegelman Summer Award Program (new!)This new program has been created to encourage undergraduate students to participate in and/or study public health issues through a hands-on experience in the field. Financial assistance will be provided to one SPHHS undergraduate student enrolled in the GWU BS or BS/MPH Public Health program each summer to participate in a paid or unpaid summer internship. Dr. Richard Riegelman has graciously awarded funding to the undergraduate program for students who are pursuing public health field experience. The $2,500 award is intended to be used toward the selected student's summer living expenses.
