EducationInformationThe department is the base for the Microbiology and Immunology Training Program of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBS), and is responsible for teaching graduate courses in Microbiology and Immunology, as well as the second-year Medical Microbiology and Immunology courses. Academic ProgramsThe doctoral program in Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine provides students the opportunity to pursue doctoral dissertation research in the areas of molecular virology, molecular parasitology, and immunology of infectious diseases. The MITM program is a component of the George Washington University Institute of Biomedical Sciences, GWIBS, which coordinates the doctoral biomedical programs of the university. Applicants must fulfill the school's admission requirements and be admitted into GW's Institute for Biomedical Sciences.
