Master Of Science In Biochemistry
Program Director : Jack Vanderhoek, Ph.D.
 he M.S. program with the thesis option requires the satisfactory completion of 30 graduate credits of course work while the nonthesis option program requires the satisfactory completion of 36 course credits. Both programs consist of three sections:
(1) a core section of required courses;
(2) an elective section with a broad range of elective courses and includes molecular biology, genetics, immunology neurochemistry, pharmacology, physiology and toxicology. The elective section will be designed around a student's specific background and objectives; and
(3)a written work of either a research thesis (for those following the thesis option) or review papers covering subjects in the Biochemical Sciences selected by the student (for students enrolled in the nonthesis option program).
Once students have completed the course work in the core section, they are required to pass a written Comprehensive Examination which is based primarily on didactic material taught in section A. Students following the thesis option are also required to present a seminar on their dissertation research. The degree is offered through the Colombian College of Arts and Sciences. The program provides a deep understanding of biochemistry and prepares our graduates for a competitive Ph.D. programs in biomedical sciences.
